Welcome to my studio

Hi! I’m Rebecca King, a New Zealand born, fine art photographer. My recent collection of work comes from a place of intuition, layering, and experimentation which exist somewhere in between painting and photography. My earliest memories are the joy of painting and although my creative path began with paints and brushes, in the mid-80’s and again in 2018, I moved on to a greater love – photography.

The first exhibition I'm showing in, named Inside the Square (that is my work to a T), opens on Tuesday March 4th at the Turners Centre in Kerikeri.

If you are around, pop along between 5pm to 7pm. Not only is there amazing art to see but also live music by Mike Nettmann and Jim Makaweo.

Let me introduce you to my first print image for the year ‘Wish-gatherer.
In folklore the Galah represents freedom and empowerment, they encourage us to fly high to achieve our dreams, to be fearless, and spontaneous along the journey.

Dandelion folklore suggests that when you blow on a dandelion puff, your dreams and wishes will be carried on the wind, eventually coming true. This enchanting belief has made dandelions a symbol of hope and the power to manifest our deepest desires.

I’ve also added a few Viking wish runes that reminded me of the floating dandelion seeds. This rune is called ‘Danobus’ and is used to fulfill your wishes. 💙

I'll be showing Wish-gatherer at @nz_art_show in Wellington, King's Birthday weekend.🤩
